And Help Your Body Heal Itself

There are many different ways to detox.  There are many levels of detoxification.   Starting with giving up smoking, just the simple act of ceasing to inhale poisonous nicotine will throw the body into a natural expulsion of pollutants on many levels of the human body, not just the lungs.  Many ex-smokers report weeks of coughing up black mucous, excreting dark urine and highly offensive body odour after they quit.  When we cease to ingest (even temporarily) any harmful substances, we give our body the chance to expel the accumulation of toxins. 

Alkaline Blood is Healthy Blood

A change to a healthier diet can be a detox.  Cutting out coffee, caffeine tea, alcohol, red meat, all types of sugar and junk food is enough in most cases to produce a greater sense of well being and vitality.  This is when we can truly experience first hand the link between body, mind, emotions and spirit.  Simply changing to a purer diet lifts emotions!  As we undergo a cleanse, our blood has to transform from acid to alkaline.  This changes our whole sense of well being, as negative thought forms are lifted and we naturally feel happier.

The Detoxing Power of Herbal Medicine

Many people from all over the world have experienced the health benefits of juice fasting over a 24-hour period or longer.  These benefits include more energy, the lessening of symptoms such as headaches and digestive discomfort and a reduction in inflammation in the body, as in the case of oesteoarthritis, to name but a few.  The added health benefits, of incorporating herbal medicine into these juice fasts however, are far superior to simply just juicing alone.  Herbal medicine has the ability to pull out, as well as dissolve toxicity within the body more effectively and at a much faster rate than any other mechanism.

Some people are unable to stop eating for long periods of time due to health problems, work commitments or perhaps huge demands on their energy, such as being a parent!  The beauty of taking herbal medicine is that it enables you to detoxify on a deeper level whilst still being able to eat regular meals.  Obviously a cleansing diet is called for, however due to the detoxing power of the herbal medicines, you will still be able to experience the joy of eating food as well as the simultaneous release of toxins. 

Detoxification is one of the most important measures a person can ever take to not only prevent disease in their body, but also to reduce and heal disease already within the body – be it migraines, rheumatoid arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, uterine fibroids, chronic fatigue or cancer.  Within all of these health issues, and indeed all chronic disease, there is an element of toxicity.  Start to clear out this toxicity from the body and sure enough the dis-ease state will respond.   I have seen detox programmes transform people’s lives – allowing them more energy and motivation, less pain, greater confidence and more light and laughter.  And I have literally seen the years drop off people, as well as the weight!

As Dr Bernard Jensen said, “If you provide the body with the right conditions, it will heal itself.”   Air pollution, pesticides in food, chlorinated or sodium fluoridated water, alcohol, drugs, pharmaceuticals, unnecessary or excessive intake of vitamin and mineral supplements, (particularly vitamin C and calcium), coffee and tea, alcohol, animal proteins, carbonated beverages, junk foods, tobacco, food additives, artificial sweeteners and heavy metals are a short list of only some of what causes toxicity and stone formation in the body.  Most of us are loaded.

We Are What We Absorb

Many Naturopathic practitioners continually pump people full of vitamin and mineral supplementations.  If we are not so much what we eat, but more so what we absorb, then most of these supplements are passing straight through us unabsorbed.  Very expensive wee one might say!  Many of the supplements available in chemists are synthetically produced and have no real affinity to the human body at cellular level.  What has happened to natural medicine?  What has happened to preventative medicine? 

One of the most effective preventative measures that you could ever undertake for your health is a detoxification programme.  Every organ and system can sigh with relief as burdens are lifted, excess toxic baggage is towed away and the effort of digestion is brought to a minimum while nourishment is still provided. 

True Healing

Cleansing or detoxification of your body will bring you closer to your true nature.  “Know yourself, and you will know the Universe and the Gods.”   This sentence is not only powerful, but also true.  Whilst on a detox program, even if we are still going to work, there is a sense that we stand still; observe ourselves, removing old aspects trapped within, that are not of our true self.  This can potentially be a painful process, as the emotions we have suppressed have to be re-experienced in order for the stuck emotion to be released.  This is true healing.  And if you think about it, completely different to orthodox medicine, which whilst alleviating many symptoms, may often, push dis-ease further into the body.  If a person comes off the medication further down the track, quite often the problem has not gone away and is still in need of healing. 

It is important to understand the concept of a healing crisis.  It is here that we can realise in a sense that “this pain, is good pain.”  -  For it is old emotions from the past finally being released.  Detoxing is a time when we are able to let go of past negativity, thus creating clear space within our beings for positivity and love.
